New fence and BBQ deck ...

The past few days have been totally 110% exhausting here .. Phyliss and I have been working for days in the back yard .. tomorrow Sunday 1st Nov, 08 we actually start to put down the decking itself !!!! .. yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy ..

Our 1st job off the rank was to cut down and move the inner fence and cut it in half to make a smaller fence further out into the yard so that it followed the koppa logs - the picture below kinda gives you an idea of what it looks like - I haven't taken an actual photo yet cause we've got too much timber etc laying around while we do the BBQ deck ..

What a dickhead ! .. lol ..

Phyliss and I have been very busy the past 3 days cutting down fence panels and making a new beaut smaller fence around the back yard to keep the dogs off the new BBQ deck and out of my new gardens (that are yet to appear .. lol)

Anyway we had to buy a new koppa log cause one was bowed .. we laid new one next to the one that was bowed and walked away .. hours later Phyliss asked me to get something from the garden shed .. so off I trotted ..

Next thing I just felt myself going .. I couldn't stop .. the grass was getting too close for comfort so I put my hands out to save myself ..

ARSE up I went .. what a sight (so phyliss, nanna and peter all said .. lol .. ) .. how the hell i missed falling onto a saw stool and a piece of timber that was sticking out .. is beyond us all .. I have a small bruise on my right thigh - and a few cuts on my right knee from hitting the deck ..

Gave me an awful fright and took me a few mins to realise what had happened .. Phyliss and Peter helped me up .. because I've been running around with the camera taking pictures of the new shed etc .. as they were helping me up Phyliss said "quick get the camera !!!" .. rofl ..

So I feel like a dickhead for falling over .. a few bruises - but nothing broken .. thank god !

And the new shed is UP !

It was the HOTTEST weekend - that's what we reckon anyway .. putting up a 6m x 3m zinc garden shed - wasn't the BEST idea we've ever had ... but Peter was so excited it had to go up ! .. lol ..

By Sunday afternoon we had most of it up apart from 1 roof panel which we left till monday morning .. Phyliss and I were exhausted .. Peter was more than exhausted - he was rooted !!! .. sweat was pouring off us .. we were under the garden hose to try and keep cool ..

Here is the finished product - all we have to do now is empty his other 2 shed's into this HUGE one .. 1 of empty shed's becomes mine and phyliss's and we CAN'T wait ! .. lol ..

Shed has arrived .. yayyyyy !

Peter's 6m x 3m shed finally arrived yesterday ! .. yayyy .. now the mamoth task begins on sunday to put the bloody thing up ! .. there's only 3 of us .. I hope it's not windy !

The beams for our BBQ deck are finished .. now it's just a case of putting the joists on and then phyliss and I can start laying the decking .. yayyyy .. I can't wait to see it all finished .. hopefully then we can CLEAN the yard .. it's an absolute mess !

Busy, Busy, Busy ....

There just aren't enough hours in the day lately ! .. and when your not getting enough sleep - with many thanks to Koko .. the days are very tiring ..

Where do I start ..

OK ..

The decking is well on the way ! .. yayyyyy .. Peter is still busy levelling the beams - then we have the joists to put on and then finally the decking itself ! ..

No baby guinea pigs yet :( .. I'm now thinking that Athena is pregnant to 1 of her baby boys from her litter on the 2nd August .. if that's the case then she's not due until the 2nd November 2008 .. and the same for Gidget ..

Wally and Charlie have been busy doing the wink wink, nudge nudge all morning .. so looks like more egg's could be on the way .. this time I've put more wood shavings in there and i'm going to keep out and stay away ..

The yard looks like a pack-a-poo shop at the moment .. there is stuff everywhere .. altho once Peter's new shed (we get on Thursday) is up and everything moved about .. the yard will once again be clean and tidy :) ..

All of a sudden I've got the urge to GARDEN, GARDEN & GARDEN .. but with a dog like Toby that's impossible ! .. I'd have to put fences all around my gardens :( .. he's already ruined a few of my garden beds ..

Well that's about it for now .. time to go outside and help Peter with the decking again ..

What a night - bloody hospitals !!!

After a day of dreadfully aching and paining legs i set off to bed at around 8.20pm .. only to be woken at 9.30pm with Peter rubbing my arm to tell me that phyliss had just buzzed upstairs and that nanna wasn't well .. so I got up and went down ..

She got up to go to the loo and felt dizzy - so she sat down .. and tried to get up again but her leg's felt funny and was still dizzy .. so she banged on the wall .. Peter said afterwards that he could hearing a banging noise but thought it was the cat's ..

We rang the ambulance and they were here within 1/2 an hour .. by 10.30pm Phyliss and I were dressed and on our way to the hospital .. where we sat and sat and SAT and SAT ! .. they did EGC's, BT's and BP checks ..

At home her BP was 190 on 99 .. then at the hospital it went to 208 on 98 ... then about 1/2 an hour before leaving the hospital it went up to 218 on 99 .. at her last BP check about 20 mins before we left the hospital - it was down to 138 on 88 ... by 2am the dr had come in .. did some BT's which all came back clear ..

At 3am we walked out the hospital - FREEZING COLD .. I think I finally fell asleep around 3.30 and didn't wake up till 7am .. Phyliss got to bed around 3.30 also .. but had to be up at 5.30 cause Uncle Peter, who is staying with us wanted to watch the Lawn bowls that was on foxtel ..

As you can imagine we're all pretty well stuffed around here .. so looks like quite a few cat naps for us all today .......... the good thing is Nanna is OK :)

Bub #2 died also :(

After putting bub #2 back with mum and dad yesterday and almost losing him .. I brought him back inside and got up every 2 hours last night and feed him .. this morning i'm exhausted ..

He was doing well - altho i was worried because he still had lots of air and food in his crop from the 10.30pm feed .. at 4.30am this morning the air and food was still there .. I logged into the bird forum i go into (I can't thank you guys enough) and they said he had what they call "sour crop" .. so i had to get some nilstat drops and give that to him in warm water ..

sadly it didn't work and 1/2 an hour later he was gone .... I have no idea why wally and charlie wouldn't keep them warm or feed them .. maybe everyone was right and i was interuppting them too much ?

I guess we'll never know the answer .. my 2 darling little babies gone in the blink of an eye .. it just seems so unfair to live for 21 days inside the egg and then freeze and starve to death ... no matter what i did - i tried my very best ...........

A day of sadness :( ....

Sadly to say my beautiful little baby that hatched on saturday died today :( .. mum and dad were too busy with the other 2 egg's to keep him warm and feed him .. only today i made the decision to pull him and the other baby that hatched yesterday out of the nest box and try desperately to save them ..

I got a hot water bottle and some paper towel and some baby farex - when that didn't work i rushed to the feed barn and got some hand rearing mix - sadly after dropping peter off at work i came home to find the 1st baby to hatch on saturday had died ..

the other little baby who hatched yesterday i've now put back with his mum and dad - there is nothing i can do :( .. i tried .. all i can hope is that they keep him warm and feed him .. i've been standing in the bird avairy for the past 2 hours watching them - and so far since i fed him at 10am this morning she's tried to feed him once .. there is nothing in his crop either .. I felt him before and he's freezing cold yet again ..

Unfortunately I don't think there is much hope for this baby either .. the other 2 egg's well i don't think there is anything in them or if there is they won't hatch as they are pretty black looking .. i'll wait another week before i take them out all together ....

The big day over ...

The day went off beautifully .. The Bride was stunning and the Groom was a nervous wreck - but what Groom isn't .. lol .. In all I took over 80 photo's ... I put the best ones (as I was also doing the video) into a slide show ..

Last night the party was about Jamie and Jasmin's engagement but also an early 60th Birthday party for phyliss - which she didn't really know about - but in the realised what was happening when I blew up the balloons ! ..

Well the party is over .. I have to say it was quite a good night ! .. by the end we were all trying the helium in the balloons .. and my brother Jamie rang our cousin Susan and asked for 2 pizza's .. rofl .. she hung up on him .. she had no idea .. but he gave it away when he rang the house number and asked where the fuck his 2 pizza's were .. rofl ...

Welcome to the world .....

I am pleased to annouce the wonderful and safe arrival of our very 1st baby cockatiel !!!! .. he/she hatched some time this morning .. I am absolutely over the moon and can't believe it ..

Party is over - totally exhausted

Last night went off really well .. there was so much food - we've got enough for dinner again tonight ..

Jamie and Jasmin loved their presents - well who wouldn't with over $ 300 worth of crystal !!!!! .. they got some beautiful stuff that's for sure ..

Phyliss got a surprise - even tho she kinda knew - but she didn't know about her cake ... The topper of her cake was $ 30 alone - we got that because she's not a flowery person ..

Anyway now the next big event is the wedding tomorrow - so another busy day .. I'll post photo's later today of the party last night - as stupid photobucket won't let me in :( .. lol ..

It's very exciting today - Wally and Charlie are about to welcome their first baby into this world .. I went and checked yesterday and the egg's had some slight cracks in them .. when i went down this morning i could actually hear the baby - but he/she is still inside the shell .. but there is a hole !!! .. I'm so so excited I can't wait to hand rear this baby ! .. photo's will come of that soon too .. when i'm able .. i don't want to disturb them too much ..

Enough from me .. almost 8am and time to get dressed and head to the hair dresser for 8.30 ..

Day of the Party !!!!!!

So far it's been a VERY busy morning ..

Mum has so far cooked:

sausages
bacon
onion

and now she is doing some sort of bacon and onion quiche like thing - don't ask me .. i'm just the cleaner-upper :) .. lol ..

Phyliss is downstairs doing a vegie bake and a plum pudding ..

We still have to go get MORE FOOD .. at the rate we're going we'll have enough to feed the whole of brisbane ..

So far we know around 13 people will be here - not too many but just enough .. I have to wrap the presents yet and decorate the cakes and the patio area .. we've got the tables etc all set ..

Peter is still full of the flu and not going back to work till Tuesday afternoon - Mum and Phyliss also have the flu - not as bad as Peter but it's getting there ..

Well back to work and cleaning the kitchen - I'm taking photo's as we go - so will post them later :) ....

OMG what a busy week !

It's only half way through the week and already I'm exhausted !

Peter is sick with flu so has been off work since yesterday .. and looks like he won't be going back till next wednesday at this stage ..

My brother and his g/f got engaged the other night .. so we're busy planning a BBQ for them before Mum and Brian leave to travel around australia in their motor home next wednesday .. also we're planning a surprise 60th birthday party for Phyliss - man is that hard with her living down stairs .. lol .. it's lots of whispering etc .. lol ..

THEN on sunday my cousin is getting married at Eve's on the River - so it's busy busy busy for us atm ..

Peter started cementing the shed floor the other day - and i'm so sore can barely move in bed or sit on the lounge .. lol ..

GOOD NEWS !

I jumped on the scales today ..... I'm down to 95.4kgs ! .. last time our FS weighed me I was down to 97kg's so when she see's me in November she's going to be thrilled to pieces with me !

Enough from me - dinner is ready - will post pic's of wedding, engagement/60th party sometimes over the weekend ..

Another week almost over ......

It's Thursday night .. the week is almost gone ! .. where has this year gone ? in all honesty have I slept through the whole thing ?

Not much happened today .. I checked on the piggies - www.catalinacavies.blogspot.com and all are doing fine .. altho I tried to groom Brinkley today - omg what a disaster that was .. he nipped me a few times - so I put him back to bed ..

I checked on my cockatiels who have 4 eggs - they are due to hatch next week .. which means in approx 4 weeks I should have some baby birds up here and hand rearing them .. not sure how that's going to work with the 2 cats in here .. Kracker (he's got no teeth and 14 yrs old) he should be ok .. it's Koko that I worry about .. anyway I'll cross that bridge when I get to it ..

That's about all from me today .... oh and Uncle Peter arrived today from Bilo - he's staying here for approx 3 weeks cause my cousin get's married in 1 week from this Sunday ..
